Oracle JD Edwards World software (World) is one of the longest lasting ERP software solutions in history, having been around for seven US Presidents and counting! In that time, it has evolved along with IBM's midrange system. From using old green screen Twinax connected terminals, to Token Ring, to Ethernet and cloud connections, World customers have seen it all.
Now that my system is up and running, how can I ensure that it remains that way over some acceptable level of time? If I want that assurance, I may enter into a SLA with my service provider. A SLA, or Service Level Agreement, is a contract between a service provider and their customer, either external or internal, which describes the service to be furnished, usually in some measurable terms. SLA's serve as critical components of many vendor contracts and list expectations of service type and quality; they also provide remedies when certain requirements aren't met. SLA's are usually between companies and external suppliers, but they may also be between departments within a company and represent a negotiated agreement designed to create a common understanding about services, priorities and responsibilities.

There will be no costs for attendees. The first two workshops will take a deep dive look into two cloud deployment options; private cloud and hybrid cloud for JD Edwards. The third will be focused on upgrading EnterpriseOne 9.2.
PMO's (Project Management Offices)

With today's emphasis being placed on getting more "bang for the buck," IT has been challenged to rein in projects and their costs. In order to accomplish this, many organizations have created Project Management Offices, or PMO's, as a way to create IT efficiency, cut costs, and improve on project delivery in terms of time and budget.

A significant paradigm shift in technology occurred with the rapid movement towards Cloud computing. At GSI, we had to start somewhere and I imagine many of you reading this article are in the same boat.
Cloud Computing Defined
Cloud computing in one word equals internet. More specifically, however, it involves taking an electronic device (PC, laptop, tablet, smart phone), connecting via a web-based application like a browser or private authentication procedure to the internet. This provides access to information, applications, databases, etc. needed to do your job or run your business. These reside on servers at a selected host company that provides redundancy, storage space, software, security and scalability either on a subscription basis or pay-as-you-go option.
