About the Client
MWH Global engages in strategic consulting, technical engineering, environmental and construction services for clients in multiple industries. They are responsible for some of the largest and most technically advanced wet infrastructure, hydropower, mining and transportation projects for municipalities, governments and multi-national private corporations throughout the world. MWH Global employs a staff of 8,000 with 180 global offices located in 35 countries across six continents and is headquartered in Broomfield, CO. Its heritage dates back to 1820 when the AmesCrosta Company was founded and later acquired by Biwater Services, Ltd. Biwater Services (now called MWH Treatment) was acquired by MWH in 2010.
Challenges the Client Faced
Since software support was set to expire, MWH planned to upgradeto the latest release of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. As part of the upgrade process, they also wanted to remove many customized objects, improve various interfaces, move to the latest tools release and upgrade their existing hardware and related infrastructure.
As part of the upgrade plan, MWH also wanted to create a platform for business process improvement and system optimization. The new platform would allow for an integrated global workforce, simplify new country implementations (M&A) and incorporate employee and requisition self-service features of JD Edwards. before moving forward, MWH needed to identify a highly experienced partner that could assist them with their aggressive plans.
After evaluating several vendors, MWH made the decision to move forward with GSI, Inc. based on their extensive resources, vast experience and knowledge of JD Edwards. GSI’s innovative plan also included a complete knowledge transfer to the MWH staff. Most importantly, instead of proposing a retrofit of the existing environment, GSI proposed a complete architecture redesign that would best position MWH for future growth.
