Overview

TUFF SHED manufactures and installs storage buildings and garages throughout the United States, serving the residential and commercial markets. With corporate headquarters in Denver, Colorado, TUFF SHED has over 100 locations coast to coast including 43 manufacturing facilities and employees over 1,000 employees in peak season. Since its inception in 1981, TUFF SHED has been providing products of lasting value through the use of innovative engineering, proven construction techniques and expert consultative services.

The Issues

TUFF SHED uses Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Financials, Manufacturing and Distribution applications. After experiencing a system down, TUFF SHED required immediate help with JD Edwards when their system and control tables were deleted. They quickly reached out to their contacts in the industry and identified GSI as the right organization to address their urgent need. Within hours of being contacted, GSI had resources working on addressing the issue and subsequently had TUFF SHED up and running in a little over a day. TUFF SHED was very pleased with GSI’s responsiveness as well as the knowledge and experience of its staff. When TUFF SHED needed to upgrade the latest release of JD Edwards, they immediately thought of GSI. After going through a short due diligence process evaluating potential partners, they selected GSI to assist them with their upgrade. The complex upgrade would include a full uplift consisting of new storage, a virtual machines environment, Enterprise server, SQL server, WebLogic server as well as integration of Oracle Sales Cloud (Fusion) and TUFF SHED’s business intelligence tools. GSI’s Pinnacle Performance Practice was also brought in to review system performance, load testing and sizing for the upgrade.

The Results

“When we initially engaged GSI for our system down, they were able to quickly resolve our issues with their expert team of knowledgeable resources in a little over one day.” stated Juan Ruiz, Director of Information Technology. “Immediately after the down, GSI was also able to provide help supporting our system through their AppCare program.” For the upgrade, TUFF SHED engaged GSI’s Pinnacle Performance Practice to determine performance, load testing and sizing requirements for the new system. The final configuration including 12 servers, including WebLogic, Enterprise, SQL, Media Object and Deployment Servers running on a VMWare ESX Cluster. Juan was very pleased with the overall results of the project. “The upgrade included many complexities with the full uplift to the new environment as well as the integration of Oracle Sales Cloud/Fusion and our business intelligence tools. The project was delivered on time and on budget. We were extremely impressed with the thoroughness of GSI’s planning process as well as their extensive internal resources and will definitely use GSI on future projects.”
