JD Edwards 9.2.6: What's New in the Latest Tools Release?

    This tools release is now incorporated in the new version naming methodology for Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne as JD Edwards release 22, which includes both tools and application enhancements.

    Now, let’s get into the details.

    JD Edwards 9.2.6: Logic Extensions, Media Objects, Launching Orchestration from E1 Page & More!

    Logic Extension Enhancement – In the latest tools release, users can create business logic to perform operations using logic extensions. Operations can include any arithmetic calculation, conditions, loops, string manipulations, and table I/O.

    Ability to Launch an Orchestration & Notifications from a Composed E1 Page – With this enhancement, users can now launch notifications and orchestrations from a composed EnterpriseOne page.

    Media Objects in Orchestration – With this enhancement in 9.2.6, users can now use Orchestrator Studio to upload/download media objects to transactions and well as manage text attachments.

    Enhancements to Form Extensions – In 9.2.6 users can now enable a grid column, disable an extended form control, associate a description with a column, set the number of grid records, and id a label on a hidden text field.

    How to Create External Forms from a E1 Web Client – In the Web object Management Workbench, users can now create external form applications objects. For more information, please visit Creating External Forms from EnterpriseOne Web Client (Release 9.2.6).

    Define Default Job Queues for UBEs – In JD Edwards 9.2.6, you now have the ability to define default job queues for UBEs, allowing you to easily identify the relationship between a UBE version and the default queue which will simplify UBE queue management.

    Workflows, Invoking E1 Functionality, Server Manager & More in JDE 9.2.6

    Workflow Enhancements – In JD Edwards Tools Release 9.2.6, users can now use the Workflows tool to design and configure workflows through a web-based user interface.  It can be

     launched directly from the Orchestrator Studio.

    Invoking E1 Application Functionality Indirectly but not Signing on to E1 interface Directly – In this enhancement, an admin can allow a user to invoke E1 application functionality indirectly (i.e. Orchestration), but not allow them to login to the E1 interface directly.

    Server Manager Monitoring and Notifications while Core E1 Servers are Offline – With this feature in 9.2.6, your system admin or your JD Edwards managed services admin can use administrative orchestrations to automate administrative tasks even when core JD Edwards E1 servers are down.

    Display a Pop-up Message when an Orchestration is Launched from the E1 User interface – In JD Edwards 9.2.6, this feature allows users to now display a pop-up message when an orchestration is launched from the E1 user interface.

    Attaching Media Objects to Orchestration and Notification Messages – With this feature in E1 9.2.6, users can attach media objects to orchestration and notification messages when designing the orchestration or notification.

    Retrieve Data item Descriptions using Orchestrations – With this enhancement, orchestration designers can now retrieve the data item descriptions from a data request.  

    Status of Terminated Jobs – In this tools release, terminated jobs will now be classified as T (Terminated). Previously, they were classified as E (Error). This enhancement makes it easier to troubleshoot issues by easily identifying which jobs were terminated by the user versus ones ended in error.

    Retrieve Data item Descriptions using Orchestrations – With this enhancement, orchestration designers can now retrieve the data item descriptions from a data request.  

    Using Files for Orchestration Inputs/Outputs – In tools release 9.2.6, users can now include files in their orchestration inputs and outputs. As an input, they include as a multi-part form data REST call from the system that is invoking the orchestration. For output, they can include data collected by the orchestration that is written in files on the AIS server.

    Ability to Export E1 Search Results to MS Excel – Users can now export their e1 search results to MS Excel.

    Bypass Process Recording Warnings – In this enhancement, users can now bypass application form warnings generated by the Process Recorder. For more information, please visit – Using the Process Recorder to Create a Form Request

    Deploy Packages with Zero Downtime – in JD Edwards 9.2.6, you can deploy packages to the E1 Enterprise and Web Servers without requiring a lock on services.

    Removal of Pre-configured Groovy Scripts on AIS Server – In 9.2.6, Groovy scripts are no longer preconfigured to create and run on the AIS Server. In order to create new Groovy scripts or edit or run existing ones, you will need to configure the AIS server with Groovy libraries. This is also true for Jython, while JRuby is preconfigured.

    JD Edwards Update Manager – With this enhancement, you can use Change Assistant to summarize, analyze and set instructions for specific packages. You can also view details of where a bug was first deployed. Also, you no longer have to start from scratch to create an object. You can now copy a base object and customize it.

    REST APIs on the AIS Server – Two REST APIs on the AIS Server have been added, including retrieving E1 objects, and listing and executing E1 business functions.

     

    JDE 9.2.6: Interdependent Server Groups API, Orchestrator Processing, Security Audit & More

    Interdependent Servers: Health Check API – Through a single API call, the health status can be validated for a group of interdependent servers. For more information, please visit Understanding Pod Health Check (Release 9.2.6).

    Invoking E1 Application Functionality Indirectly but not Signing on to E1 interface Directly – In this enhancement, an admin can allow a user to in

    voke E1 application functionality indirectly (i.e Orchestration), but not allow them to login to the E1 interface directly.

    Orchestration Processing Status Messages – Orchestration errors/warnings can now be displayed for the orchestration processing status.

    User Security Audit Enhancements – In tools release 9.2.6, additional user level details are provided in the security history application including environment, client host, role, pathcode, long user ID, application & tools release. UXOne graphs can be used to view, analyze and report on user activity.

    Bypass Printer Selection Prompt when Submitting Jobs through Batch Versions – With this enhancement in JD Edwards 9.2.6, users can now bypass the printer selection prompt when they are submitting jobs through batch versions, streamlining UBE submissions.

    Default Report Logging Enhancement – In the latest tools release, you can now change the default setting for reporting logging level as well as set the UBE logging level for user roles, versions, environments, and reports.

    .jar Files Added – The following .jar files have been added in release 9.2.6: jakarta.activation.jar,  jakarta.xml.bind-api.jar, jaxb-core.jar, and jaxb-impl.jar.
