Oracle’s new generative AI capabilities are set to usher in an entirely new era of productivity.  

    Continuing to lead the wave of innovations and machine learning, Oracle recently announced that it will be embedding AI across all layers of the technology stack - including applications and converged databases – all while offering new large language models (LLMs) and managed services.     The latest updates include the general availability of the OCI Generative AI service, multilingual capabilities that support over 100 languages, an improved GPU cluster management experience, and flexible fine-tuning options.     Customizable Generative AI Models 

    New generative AI capabilities will be integrated into Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, Oracle NetSuite, and industry-specific applications like Oracle Health.  

    These capabilities, fueled by models from OCI Generative AI, will initially focus on Summarization and Assisted Authoring. This includes tasks such as summarizing performance reviews, assisting in authoring job descriptions, creating goals, writing knowledge articles, and generating relevant customer service emails. Placing these AI capabilities directly into the software environments used daily by your workforce will empower them with heightened productivity and effectiveness in their core tasks and workflows. 

    Furthermore, using Autonomous Database Select AI, customers can employ LLMs for natural language queries instead of writing SQL when engaging with Oracle Autonomous Database — allowing them to accelerate AI adoption in their application development processes. 

    Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) Service 

    The recent announcement also introduced the beta availability of the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) service - Oracle’s customizable solution for engaging in conversations and taking actions based on diverse knowledge bases. As part of this feature, employees can ask questions and gain insights from siloed sources across your company through natural conversations. Instead of simply displaying the list of documents found, the RAG service utilizes a combination of the vector database, embeddings model, and text generation model to produce natural language responses that answer the original question, supported with references and links to the original source documents. 

    The most advantageous aspect of this service is that it democratizes data access — you don’t have to rely on specialist teams with advanced skills to query different corporate data stores. You only need to submit your questions in plain language, and the service will retrieve real-time data to answer them on the fly.

    Data Science AI Quick Actions Feature 

    OCI Data Science AI Quick Actions, a no-code feature within the OCI Data Science service, grants users access to diverse open-source LLMs, including options from Meta and Mistral AI. Once generally available, it will broaden access to the top offerings from the open-source community. The feature not only provides access to curated models for fine-tuning, evaluation, and deployment with user data but also offers a comprehensive ecosystem with user-friendly workflows, integrated telemetry, visualizations, and simplified execution processes.  

    Upon general availability, AI Quick Actions offers verification, environment pre-check, curated and pre-tested models, deployment options, model search and filtering, flexible model selection, a few-clicks interface for fine-tuning tasks, guided steps, direct monitoring from the console, and a playground feature for quick testing of deployed models. 


    Beyond delivering an integrated and seamless AI experience, Oracle is ensuring its availability precisely where users require it. Users can employ Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Generative AI within the Oracle Cloud, taking advantage of public cloud benefits for scalable solutions, customized models, and the creation of private model endpoints for business purposes. With OCI Dedicated Region, Oracle is further extending the delivery of generative AI services to your data centers, facilitating the integration of generative AI capabilities with on-premises data and applications.
