    Challenges the Client Faced

IDEX’s existing custom-developed eCommerce Site interfaced with an older release of JD Edwards using a Java API. When modifications were made to the JDE App Server call method a few years ago along with the anticipated higher customer user loads, IDEX needed to test the solution. As part of the test, it needed to verify it did not overburden the JDE App Server with too many concurrent calls before going into production. As an IDEX business partner for JD Edwards, GSI recommended its GENISYS load, stress, and regression tool and related services to test the solution. Based on the results of this testing, they would be able to throttle the calls made to the App Server by setting parameters accordingly in the eCommerce application.

    GSI's Solution

Utilizing the GENISYS testing tool, IDEX and GSI were able to determine that by using of the appropriate parameters in the eCommerce application, they could throttle calls to the JDE App Server to keep it from being overburdened. Recently, when IDEX was upgrading to the latest release of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, as well as making changes to the related infrastructure, they needed to confirm EnterpriseOne could handle the anticipated load of simultaneous calls from the eCommerce site before going to production. After updating and modifying previously written scripts to meet the current needs of the upgrade, GSI again performed testing with GENISYS. The process worked extremely well and validated that the JDE App Server could handle the concurrent calls under the existing parameters. The testing included the eCommerce Tool (custom app), the JDE App Server, SQL Server, and eCommerce Server.
